Anyone own an S3?

Had a TT so almost identical bar the bodywork. What you want to know?

well, im a little worried about the running costs. I have ran a 306gti 6 for the last couple of years and do roughly 350-400 miles a week so I am not dillusional about how much petrol and servicing etc, just dont want my MPG/servicing to double.

How do you find the TT MPG wise?

Just try asking the question, assuming it is nothing too obscure it is more than possible that a few of us will know the answer (assuming its nothing to do with the haldex system for example then I might know).

I find my Cupra R (identical engine; 225PS thing) to be very dependant on how much of the loud pedal I want to use. Driving spiritedly everywhere will see an average return of around 25-27MPG, driving like a saint will return 35+ MPG (i've seen over 40 for a motorway run), whereas hooning it everywhere will see me well into the low-teens MPG wise!

You ll be fine with mpg, as my 6 is very thirsty :) Are you 306gti6.com? (good place to sell if you aint sold it yet)

You will be looking at around 24-26MPG on an S3 maybe lower if you boot it everywhere. Servicing can vary depending where you get it done, if its on variable service schedule then you will be looking at a service around every 12-15k with the oil change service(basic) being between £200-£300(unless you supply the oil then the price will drop about £80. The bigger service will be about £350-450ish from Audi. You can get the servicing a lot cheaper from Audi specialists though, so worth shopping around.

It may well be worth waiting a couple of months though as the new S3 will be out and this could well have an effect on the residuals of the older S3.

Well running costs are directly proportional to mileage and as my TT was brand new and I only did 12k in it I can't comment.

But as to fuel costs my 225bhp coupe returned over 30mpg according to the DIS.

thanks, this seems reasonable, i bet i dont get much better out my pug at the moment.

To elaborate a little more on my situation. The pug needs replacing as it has had a caning over the past couple of years (have put 50k on it) taking it to over 100k. I am a car lover at heart and have decided I could not do with buying a sensible diesel (even tho i do tons of miles). There are non sensible diesels out there (330d for example) which have the benefit of economy and performance but are out of my league really, i can only go to 9k at a push. I am adament I want a VAG group car, have been looking at vrs's, a4s etc. But what I really want is an S3..

I absolutely love my gti 6 BTW, can nail most things off the lights and handling is awesome. I have just an aftermarket air filter fitted and i just cant help but nail it every time I get in it for the 4k plus rpm howl :)

Just sold it to my mate, cheers for the advice anyway.
