I'm looking for a second room setup that will be used for TV and games, films will be run through another setup.

The room this second setup for is around 3mx3m - 4mx4m, not huge and I know a set of stereo speakers is advantageous compared to these all in one bundles but I just can't do the speaker sizes in this room (wifes orders!)

So, i've been toying with the idea of getting a second hand Denon (love Denon amps) and a separate set of the little Denon satellite speakers but that comes out best case scenario at around £250-350.

The Yamaha 1840 setup is therefore looking pretty attractive.

I'm used to my faithful Kef 2005.2 setup for general watching at the moment.

The Yamaha is good value if you're looking for something that'll never be upgraded. The sub is basically a speaker in a box rather than the powered type you have with the KEF kit. That makes the Yam speakers tied to an amp that has a speaker output for the sub. Very few do, so if you buy this package deal then you'll probably need to sell it as a package deal too when or if you upgrade.

Thanks lucid, I've spent days mulling things over, decided to spend a little more, get a set of the Canton 75 and use an existing amp I have for the moment, that way, when I need that amp back, I've got time to pick up a decent second hand one. Kind of a cheat as I'm spending more money just over a longer period of time, that way too I end up with better kit in the second room :-)

Good plan, I think.

Incidentally, there were a couple of Canton Movie Star systems advertised on Ebay but that went unsold. Bad time of year. It was an 80 and a 60, both with a start price of £50!!

Damn could have done with that break!!

Still not purchased yet so if you see anything let me know!
