Hi all...been a mac user for over a year now and loving it but i'm starting to miss Counter-strike: source - mostly because my friends are still playing it every now and again :p

I don't want to buy a gaming PC as I mainly use a PS3 but I was wondering if any of you game on the mac?

I have the 2010 13" MBP. So 2.4 core 2 duo 4gb ram and the nvidia 320!

Is gaming on the MBP bad for it with the heat etc?

If it's ok I was thinking about getting a stand for my MBP and a monitor so I could just leave my MBP closed looking nice on a stand at the side of my desk and use a wireless keyboard/mouse!

Could anyone offer advice?

Thanks.

If you own it on Windows then you can download the mac version from steam for free so don't know why you have waited this long :p

Runs much better in windows though. I got the exact same specs but 8gb RAM and i get 120fps with everything pretty much on high, was only about 60fps in OSX + i couldn't get rid of mouse acceleration properly.

Its OK to play with it on your lap though haven't something there to stop the heat over time certainly helps. Can't comment on the monitor/keyboard/mouse setup you want though

A mouse is essential! It's weird playing it with the massive track pad....

CS plays fine on osx (even on the 9400m in my mbp but its better on the 9600) and for the heat usually you find in windows or osx you'll need something between your mac and lap to make it comfortable though, I use a large hardback book (my copy of grand prix heroes does the trick nicely).

13" 2011 MBP -

Fans ramp up full RPM and CPU hits 80 odd degrees. I wouldn't say sutainable for World of Warcraft, going to see how it performs heatwsie with CSS tonight, will keep you updated.

So you can actually install the drivers over on Mac and have the ability to change the settings? My Razer Diamond back just isn't friendly with Mac although im struggling to game with an wireless Logitech mouse, its awful!

Runs fine on my 2011 13" MBP although the laptop gets toasty even on a hard surface.

I play games on my mac mini with 9400m gfx.

L4D1/2
DOD S

& under BootCamp I have even more games installed including MW2.

1024 or 1280 res seems to be the max with low settings for most games, but still playable. :)
