.......... Are there any servers that don't require additional downloading of crap?

Every server I go on you need to download all sorts of mods etc.

If you Disable downloading, you just get kicked with a message of you do not have the required packs, files etc.

Any suggestions?
 
Havent played for a while but i thought it was just ETPro Mod that most servers made you download. I cant remember ever having to wait more than a few seconds on any sort of a mod download.
 
I remember being frustrated by exactly that.

Twas a struggle just to find a populated server which didn't require 5-10 minutes worth of downloading pointless and crappy mod files, only to find that something couldn't be downloaded from the server, necessitating a trawl through 'net to find a full working download for the mod + ancilliary files required to actually play.

While that sort of setup might be fine for someone who plays the same game on the same server night after night, its definitely not the case for the rest of us who might just fancy the occasional game, only to find that a new version of blah-blah mod needs downloading, plus a host of new server-specific 'funny' sounds :rolleyes:

ET isn't alone in this regard sadly :(
 
Almost all servers now have some type of mods, its the way that we admins like to make our servers differ from everyone elses, some servers will have loads of mods ranging from 1mb to 50 mb otheres like the 1 i play on has a few smaller mods ranging from 5kb to 6mb ( maps )
