I havn't had a chance to play either of these mmo betas yet and was wondering of the people whom have could they please tell me what their system performance was like?

tera is the better looking game and ran better , this gw2 beta apparently uses cpu only but the last beta event I was on used both gpu,cpu and ran very poor even on high end cards

Tera runs pretty well but then its a year+ old and GW2 is brand new.

Incase your thinking wtf Tera was released in asia ages ago.

it's ancient really.

It looked good when they were making it, but when you actually play it - it's nothing special

I can't say for Gw2 since my interest for it went downhill so i haven't seen any in-game stuff

tera is by far the best looking mmo out there in terms of tech

It's not, it uses ancient UE3 technology. Nothing new or exciting.

maybe you should read again when did I or when does the fact of how old ue3 is have any relevence to this thread? even if it is old no mmo holds no current technical superiority to it

ff14 is probably the best looking mmo ive seen, hopefully it'll actually be worth playing soon as they're remaking the whole game virtually from scratch, and will be re released end of the year.

but yeh ive seen teras gameplay and the gfx dont look that special.

Not seen FF14 myself, but I certainly agree TERA is the best looking and most graphically detailed MMO I've played. Even in the starter area I was pretty much blown away with the silly stuff like leaves on trees moving in the breeze and the pegasus travel knocking leaves off trees as it moved past.

Tera is really good in all honesty, I played all 5 weekends of the beta. There are however 2 caveats to that statement.

There's not a massive degree of variation in the quests. I think I did maybe 2 quests in 24 levels that weren't "go here and kill X of these". However, it's a korean MMO, so that grindy nature is part of the whole package.

The storyline is throwaway at best. I don't think it detracted from the game for me at all, however I just didn't feel any connection to the story, or any real need to follow it. You simply plow through quests and pay very little attention to what the NPC's are actually talking about.

GW2 had a nasty NDA up on it so I've not even bothered with it so far, I will do on release though.

I didn't see the amazement in tera's graphics, but then there could have been something wrong with my graphics, textures were alright but even swtor and gw2 had much, much sharper/detailed ones, shadows were almost non existant, my characters was a were and the starter area was bright as **** with no shadows on any pillars, trees, nothing.
It just looked washed out, I'm on a 680 and maxed everything, then even tried to edit the configs to push more out of it, nothing would budge, I assume it was my end, not the game.
Things in the distance look like a really pixelated background image, meh. It's alright but each to their own, I'm just going off from actual details you can't ignore.

But it ran extremely smooth, gw2 still has a release to go before we can stop saying "It's BETA!111!!111" and "they ****** up big time".
