I was looking into this game, played on the free weekend and it seemed ok, but having looked on their forums I see there are lots of issues (bugs, lack of GM responce to reports, low population, lack of getting the extras they paid for in the extra editions).

I was wondering if there are any OcUKers that have played this or are playing this now?

low population is a understatment , sucks really :( , Play Everquest 2 on a pvp server and have tones of fun :D

I already play EVE, but was wondering if it had taken off

I listen to a few of the podcasts that cover MMOs and, apparently, virtually no-one is playing it, empty servers etc.

Thats the problem with MMOs - there are only a finite number of players and most of them are playing WoW, with the vast bulk of the remainder divided between Guild Wars/CoH/CoV/Eve/EQ2, and a tenacious few scattered between a handful of others (does *anyone* play SWG since they knackered the combat system???). I've been trialling D&D Online this week and, apart from the fact that it's WoW (but without the enjoyment lol) there's hardly anyone online. The same in Eve when you get away from the hub systems and look at the map to find the nearest player is eight star systems away

It's a shame but because the bulk of players are spread between a handful of games anyone coming new to MMOs hoping to innovative is hamstrung from the start :(

thing with eve is its SO much bigger than anything else on the market
when I'm in 0.0 its always got about 4-20 people in local (I love owning space)

Oh yes, sometimes its actually nice in Eve to realise that you are out there on your own, off the beaten track... just you and the coldness of space for millions and millions of miles :D If you want excitement all you have to do is get back to the hub systems or hang around in the systems that gate you into 0.0 space, lots of people there lol

It's just that with some of the most recent MMOs there just aren't enough players to go round cos WoW etc have sucked 'em all up  It's a real shame because AutoAssault really does show potential, but I bet you they won't be around in 6 months... I'm not sure D&D Online will be either with it's sub-WoW gameplay :(

Well I stopped playing WoW... I gave my gold to my guild, deleted my char and burnt the installation discs in a small ceremony in the back garden, cos I got addicted and played it every night and all day at weekends for two months  lol do I have an addictive personality or what

I still play Eve because you can dip in and out of that and it's less immersive - I daren't even look at EverQuest because of my World of Warcrack issues though...

I'm just looking for another MMO that's interesting to play but it doesn't look like there are any decent alternatives out there at the moment, not ones that more than a handful of people are playing anyways... we need a WoW-beater and we need it soon :)

Everquest 2 Is better :D & Eve

Hmm not too sure about Ever Quest II being better than WoW. I cancelled my EQ 2 sub to play WoW and could not belive how much better it was.

Still got my EVE account,(since Beta 6 and still playing) and it's such a different game to WoW, that the only thing it can be measured against EVE with is game the person enjoys more. But thats down to the individual

I had the same addiction problem with EVE, I'm not playing atm due to the fact I would spend all my non-work waking moments playing and being involved in the corps. Still have my accounts but don't know if I'll go back...

Playing Silkroad Online atm as I find it easier to just jump online for an hour, do some killing and exploring then duck out. EVE was far more immersive tho.
