If you play multiplayer I'm sure you're familiar with the sound the Warthog's cannon makes. My Sound Blaster Z seems to struggle with this sound effect; it introduces a low-frequency buzz-buzz-buzz sound for the duration of the effect.

Anyone else hearing this?

It could be a result of clipping if you have the bass turned up too much. If you are using different methods of controlling the sounds volume (such as an amplifier and through windows) then try to have them both set at a reaosnable level and not unbalanced (ie. 100% volume in windows and 10% on the amplifier). I don;t know if there is any science in that but it seemed to eliminate clipping for me when I had windows at 50% and my amp on 30%.

I have the Windows volume at 50% with no sound 'enhancements' whatsoever (Creative SBX off, EQ off). The only amp is the headphone amp in the card, and there's no way to adjust it. Reducing the in-game master volume to 0.50 gets rid of it, so it does seem to be clipping due to the volume. :(

I would suggest you max the output on the sound card so check windows, creative control panel and the game are max. Then control the volume at the headphones speakers or amp.
