Anyone playing ESO to take a new player under their wing?

I played ESO for a little bit years ago before dropping out and back into WoW. I've been wanting to get back into ESO again recently, but one reason I left before was having nobody to play with.

Anybody here actively play ESO that would be up for answering dumb questions and having a bit of fun? Or any guilds worth checking out? The character I'm planning to play most is Daggerfall Covenant if faction makes any difference in ESO...

I would recommend joining rose eso, i used to be in winter rose when i played. They have training runs for trials once you've got to a decent level and the guild house has every single workbench and mundus stone, and a very useful transmute station. as for how to join i'm not sure, a friend got me in. they do have a website and discord though

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll try and find them!

Gone back to ESO after dropping WoW, it's been really nice getting back into it. Should keep me going until Dying Light 2 comes out.
Also, if you've not seen it, they've added a new switch under video settings for 'Multi Threaded Rendering'. On my 6900xt, I've gone from 60-70fps in high population areas to a static 100fps (capped at monitor refresh).

Oh nice! This was one of my only gripes with the game, the performance drops in populated areas were horrendous.

It was added in yesterday's maint. Absolute game changer, feels so smooth.
I get odd hitching now and again but only in high pop areas, its really sporadic though. No rhym or reason from what I can tell but the switch is in beta.

Yeah I tried various fixes with changing worker thread counts in the ini file, I saw some improvement but nothing major. Only thing that "worked" was that addon that dynamically adjusted view distance which at least kept populated areas smooth but it was a band aid solution. I'm balls deep in FFXIV atm but I've always returned to ESO eventually!

I haven't been to any high population areas yet, I literally made a new character, checked out the new Heirloom stuff they seem to give you now, and logged off to do some work. I'll see if it makes any difference for me on a GTX 970 though

I'd be surprised if it didn't as there are loads of reports on the forums and reddit of improvements on this gen of card.
Post back anyway, might be good for others.

I dropped WoW for ESO even though I installed FFXIV. Still haven't played it as I'm loving the skyrim environment too much :D

I've got the urge to play ESO again too but when I last played, I was really excited about revisiting cyrodill, but this was a PVE area only? Is there much of Cyrodil to explore? Like the Imperial City? Or will I just be butchered when I try to wander around?

There is a lot of PVE to do in the PVP zones, but you will be open to attack.

I honestly can't comment. I haven't made it there.

Whoops I meant it was a PvP zone when I just wanted to look at "Oblivion in HD" kind of thing!

I might try to load up that character anyway and just see what happens when I go there.

Doesn't matter too much if you do get killed, you will only have to repair your items if you die too much (which repairing in ESO is just a standard thing). So just go in and have fun, you just may get annoyed if you are trying to read a quest and some person keeps assassinating you :D

This sounds like my idea of hell lol

Gawd do miss this game, but get too addicted when I play, 4k hours needed to hang it up. That said I think we also have an OCUK guild, was about 7-8 members + bunch of others if I recall on it, not sure if its still active. Was a blast at time doing dungeon runs, not going to mention who it was who often tried unique solutions at times :p

Go back to the dark side! This is why my brother in law doesn't play RPGs anymore, they're easy to get sucked into.
