Howdy,

Having a Wii and a 360, I want to complete the collection of next gen, and I am VERY VERY close to entering my credit card details at a online store to buy a pre-order PS3... but I'd only be doing it for Resistance at the moment... has anyone out there pre-ordered a PS3 just for this?

I can afford the PS3 no problem, is just I don't know if its worth it for just this game? And I was hoping that hearing other peoples thoughts on it (or if they are doing the same) might make me decide quicker before they are all gone (although I can't see that happening)?

I will deffo at least be picking one up when MGS4 is released... but I just don't know whether to get one now or not? What you guys doing? And are there any other games that are worth picking up?

ta

Well if you can afford it and will probably be buying other games down the line then good luck to you... where's the harm ;)
If I could afford it ( and my wife wouldn't kill me) I would probably do the same.

If resistance is the only game you want and the only thing that interests you in the system until MGS4 comes along, wait a while.

but with the fact you would then have a BluRay player if that appeals to you then cool.
But there should be a few other launch titles to appeal to you like Motorstorm and VF5.
Although i have a PS3, i would be hard to justify spending £475 on only one game.

From the launch titles the only ones that interest me are RFoM and Motorstorm but i'm still getting one

There are other features that appeal to me too such as BR and the ability to install linux out of the box so for the first time there's a console out that some people may get for the features and not the games

Quite cool imo

What is the point of having Linux installed?

Im not trying to put it down, I just really don't know :)

To the op, if you can afford it, you only live once, so BUY IT :D

All valid points... and I agree, if I have the dough now... why not :)

Whats this motorstorm game about? Is it just another racer? Cos I hate racing games!

Yeah what johnny said

Plus there is so much untapped potentiol with regards to running an os on the ps3, things are just going to get so cool imo

Not trying to put you off because it's each to their own and all that, but I played on a friends PS3 for the first time just over 1 week ago and I was very disappointed with RFoM. I was actually found the whole PS3 experience a bit underwhelming. RFoM didn't blow me away graphically, infact I can think of a number of PC and 360 games with better graphics imho. I also thought it played like a very generic FPS. The first thing that sprang to my mind was that it was an average game with average graphics.

I also played on Ridge Racer 7 which didn't impress me that much either, the GT HD demo was rubbish (the car handling was rubbish much like GT4). Infact the game that impressed me the most was actually F1, I really enjoyed that one a lot, just not enough to make me rush out and get a PS3 yet.

I must say that I also watched a bit of MI3 on bluray on my mates 40" HD screen and also wasn't impressed at all, I couldn't really tell the difference from a normal DVD to be honest. Having said that it may just have been a badly done HD movie though because he downloaded a HD trailer for Ghost Rider and that looked amazing quality.

Like I said, it's each to their own, but I certainly wouldn't get a PS3 for RFoM alone, infact I probably wouldn't even buy the game if I was getting a PS3 on launch after playing it for a bit.

I think if anyone ordered a ps3 for resistence theyre gonna be prety dissapointed. The game just reeks of being rushed for the ps3 launch, the way the lveels end s prety dissapointing..they don't actually end the screen just fades to a blur effect and thats the level over even though you ont really feel you completed a level. The tank section is agood example of this, you;re just getting the hang of it, then you go under an archway and the blur effect kicks in.

its all about the 40 player online to be honest though

i was always dissapointed with GOWs multiplayer even though yes the graphics are ace

probably because im used to CS S or bf2 where 40 ppl is the norm for me

Hate to be picky but if you are using a credit card, you techincally don't have the 'money', unless of course you meant a debit card, or of course you have the money to pay off the credit card in one go.

I personally wouldn't get one for only 1 game now regardless if you have the money or not.
