I have never read such filth, are they being paid by Sony? The graphics are twice as powerful as the Xbox 360!!

Theres stuff like that all over the gutter press. The sun obviously is given loads for prizes. So they write a stunning review then in the last paragraph write how for half the money you may as well buy a 360.

I can see it in the board room now

Head of Marketing: Um CEO, er we have a problem!
CEO: What sort of problem
Head Of Marketing: Well Sony provide us with one of our biggest revenues in Advertisements
CEO: Yes and?
Head of Marketing: well The Games Review department have lambasted the console for being about the same as the 360 imitating the wii and being the price of both of them combined
CEO: Is this true?
Head of Marketing: Yes it is, but Sony will not be happy.
CEO: You'd best change it then.

It's amazing how some reviewers kowtow to Sony in that fashion and I wouldn't be surprised if the above is actually what goes on. I'm getting a PS3 and I have a X360 and in truth there doesn't appear to be a great deal between them. How on earth do these reviewers reckon it's twice as good?

I suppose it is a start to counter all the myths and over exagerations that went about the negative side of the PS3. ;)

my thoughts exactly, Sony get it from both angles.

There was similar said on GamerTV the other day on Bravo. It was kinda odd to be honest how they where saying that its twice as powerful as anything else and the 6axis is better than the Wiimote.
Then the next episode I watched had a review of the game Virtual Tennis 3 and they where saying how the internet multiplayer wasn't on the PS3 due to Microsofts big wallet paying Sega to stop them???

Bizarre IMO. Can't trust the media either positive or negative. First hand experience counts more IMO from yourself or people on places like here

The real problem is that you get these reviews that look like celebrations and it turns off those with a genuine interest and a degree of intelligence. What you want is a review that mentions the good and bad points without trying to dress it up in anyway. I'm buying a PS3 because it's going to have the most RPGs in the years to come. I don't think it's a great deal better than the Xbox 360 and I know it's ripped off the Wii in regards to motion sensing (both of which I already own) but it still doesn't prevent me from wanting to buy one.

I think the problem is that we have reviewers who talk out of their backside. We all know the PS3 isn't twice as powerful, it's actually similar to the X360 in terms of its capabilities, and yet we have these people spouting lies. It's these lies that will do more damage than good when people find out for themselves what the true state of affairs is. Surely some honesty isn't too much to ask for?

I wouldn't expect a proper review from any of the sources listed in this thread. I will base opinions to a certain extent on reviews from respectable sources, none of which have cropped up here.

I mean, of course reviews from the likes of The Sun are going to be ridiculous - I even personally spoke to one of the film reviewers for The Sun (or possibly News Of The World) and he said he had to give certain films superb reviews based on who they were produced by. Reasonably clever people will look at who owns The Sun and realise which films I'm talking about... ;)

I can understand they may well be exaggerated, but its funny that just because it doesn't go with what people expect, they immediately assume there is payoffs involved and rubbish it.

Who actually cares about/reads up on reviews for games consoles. I think its something each person decides for theirselves, depending on who they know has one, what games are comming out, what they had before, how baised they are and what game franchises they follow.

Thats no excuse for the biased reviews though, not much you can do about that still. :(

Because it doesn't reflect in game comparison between 360 and PS3 - 360 comes out better almost every time.

Something just as annoying... does anybody else remember when, a couple of weeks before the 360 was released, Chris Moyles got given a console from MS. Instead of giving it away to a listener - after all, it's not as if he can't afford his own considering how much of our license fee goes towards his salary - he kept it for himself. He even made a big thing about he was one of the 1st people in the UK to get one, yada yada yada.

Even now, every time I listen to him he seems to be talking about how he plays CoD2 on his 360 and how it's the best game in the world on the best console in the world. And how all his celebrity chums share their XBL tags when they're at their celebrity parties.

For not very much outlay at all, MS have got an enormous amount of publicity out of this. I was kinda expecting Sony to do something similar, but I've not heard any celebs spouting on about having been given a PS3 yet (good on ya, Sony!)

Yes, I remember Chris Moyles talking to one of the McFly boys about which was better, CoD2 or CoD3. Would love to know his gamertag and give him a bit of trash talk.

Yeah MS done a lot of these celebrity party things, it was a total nonsense. I think they musta hired some ex manager off MTV.
It did annoy me, how the world was having severe shortages, and they where having parties giving them out to the rich.
I am semi-surprised Sony didn't, but they are always kinda low key with the launches, and just let the launch do its own work, which is fair enough tbh.
