Hi everyone im in need of some help, i have been having some problems with the tempreture of my graphics card it gets to about 68oc when im playing games and im geeting a bit worried about it. I feel i have a good PSU its an atx 400 watt i dont overclock so there is no real need for a high watt PSU. I have taken the side pannel off and the temp did drop a good 6oc, i only just realized i had 1 vent on the side pannel and there is no way air can flow through it very well.

I have a ATX case and im not sure what cooling equipment would go best with it, if someone could help me out and point me in the right direction of a good cooling system id be so greatfull, im not worried how much i have to spend i'll pay anything to get it nice and cool so i dont set myself on fire!! I already lost 2 radeon x700 through this.

many thanks people

Liam

Its just a standerd ATX case i think mate come with the PC. The only problem i hve with getting a new case is how to fit it all, im not sure how to remove the motherboard etc from the old case is it easy?

Have you got a link for that case you metioned mate, can i get it from this site?

cheers for your replies it means a lot!

Well it's not a case but the Zalman VF900 is replacement fan for your gfx card. It comes with heatsinks that you stick onto the ram modules to help also. I'm would class myself as noob and it was pretty simple to fit and it would help with bringing the temps down of your gfx card.

If your looking for a new case then one of the best for cooling seems to be the Akasa Eclipse 62

I'm taking delivery of one tomorrow and moving all my current kit into it. Never done it before either so don't know how easy it'll be. But gonna take some pics of my current setup before I start so I have a good idea of where everything goes. But I've got the motherboard manual to help me out aswell :)

The Zalman is a replacement HSF (Heat Sink and Fan) for the graphics card, not a case. There are other makes too. They are actually quite easy to fit but I'm guessing you haven't had much experience with building PC's yet so it may be a little scary. You basically have to remove the old HSF and replace it with this one.

Removing a motherboard is also quite easy if you wanted to get a new case. It will just be held down with several screws. But you'll probably have do disconnect everything (graphics card, hard drives, DVD, etc) to do so.

The reason I asked about which case you had is because a case can make a big difference to temps. Some cases have very poor airflow and others have good airflow. For example some cases have a single 80mm fan while others have a pair of larger 120mm fans. Also the layout of the case can make a difference.

Moving items to a new case is easier than you think. So is replacing the graphics card HSF. But they are scary the first time you do it.

Then there's always the option of replacing the air cooling with water cooling instead. But that's also scary :)
