.....This number 0234 3212333?

An 'indian' sounding person phoned me saying he was from a PC company and wanted to know my Windows 7 installation key . So I told him where to go .... then he started hurling abuse down the phone. Saying he knew where I lived , he was going to slit my throat. It went on for about 5 minutes. If I hung up , he was still on the line 20 seconds later , couldn't get rid of him.

I've taken it all with a pinch of salt but I'm now I'm quite angry. Firstly I'm a member of the caller preference service and shouldn't receive this type of call and secondly what if this company phoned someone elderly or vulnerable?

Is it worth informing the police of this number?

Why, in this day and age, can't the police simply demand that the call is traced (i refuse to believe this is not possible as it all goes though network operators, computers etc. and when it comes to celebrities being hacked they can draw up records from six years ago at the drop of a hat...) back to the phone, and have the person arrested.

A few people getting a high profile deportation should do it ;)

Don't hang up, a lot of their call centers are unable to do this.

A few years ago we did this after we were getting grief and within minutes he was begging (rather pathetic) for one of us to put the phone down.

What a great tip. :D
