Anyone recommend an ethernet modem for Orange?

Hi, I have an Orange ADSL broadband account using a Thomson Speedtouch 330 USB modem, it's fine when connected but drops out about 10 - 15 times a day and it's becoming very tedious reconnecting all the time. Can almost guarantee it's dropped if I leave it idle for more than 30 mins. Maybe it's Orange and contention issues (booting me when idle) but maybe it's the modem, keep hearing the Speedtouch is a "Dog" of a modem and ethernet modems are superior. Any thoughts?

Thanks

There are very few true ethernet ADSL modems, the only one I would recommend that doesn't cost stupid is the DrayTek Vigor 100.

Are you sure its an ethernet modem you are after and not a router?

I'm not sure, is a router not used when there is more than computer? I only have the one stand alone PC, where would a router "route" to? And/or is a router a modem?

Thanks

A router would create a local area network, which your PC would sit on, then route traffic between that and the internet. Technically routers and modems are different devices, but for ADSL more often than not they come integrated in one box, like those listed here.
