Ive decided not to buy an entirely new system yet, but stick with this one and upgrade to SSD, 8 GB of Ram, and probably a 850 GFX card and then prob get an entire new system next autumn or so. I dont have the original box, can anyone remember what the mobo was, and what the fastest compatible RAM would be that I could buy for it?

Thanks, I downloaded CPUZ and it tells me my mobo is Asus P5Q, And the ram in slots and 3 is each a 2 gig stick, PC2-6400 @ 400 mhz. The pc2-6400 ram on OCUK runs at 800mhz, does that mean I couldnt run 2 new sticks along with my current ones or is that just the fatest my current ram runs at?

•Dual-channel DDR2 1200/1066/800/667 MHz

According to that it supports at up to 1200 mhz?

Theres no real point upgrading your RAM as it has little effect on overall really, you may get more from your CPU, depending on what you have now
If you do really want more RAM you can get some, but if you get 1066 it will still run at 800, unless you get 4 x 2 gig of 1066, it all has to run at the same speed, which is whatever is slowest

because your motherboard is quite old an SSD would be severely bottlenecked by the SATA ports. also, no need to upgrade the RAM, 4GB is plenty for gaming and RAM speed makes little difference.
you are using it mostly for gaming arent you?

if you could tell me the make/model of the PSU, and what processor + graphics you've got then i could recommend you an upgrade for a budget of your choice :)

Not sure about the make/model of the PSU, I've never opened the system I just remember it was a titan accelerator 2!!!!!! Basically I thought a 580 SSD and more ram, as I really dont want to get a brand new system when there are new processors/GFX cards coming next year.

The current GFX card is a 4870 I think, and the processor is a Q6600 running @ 3.06GHZ.
