Car in front of my inlaws house parked on the road has been there for over a year now its annoyed him but as he knows the people he hasn't wanted to do anything. Its a right eyesore as well the lad that's car it is thought he would respray it him self. Got as far as sanding the whole care, and that's how its been since. Tyres flat, weeds growing in the gutter where it is.
So i checked and its showing as untaxed and no mot.

Whats the likely outcome?

I would ask the owner nicely to move it first. If not then report it.

If someone reported one of my card that was sawn without telling me to move it first I would be annoyed.

Someone asks you to move car, then it gets towed/clamped soon after. Coincidence?

Rather you than me!

I have... kind of.

It was owned by the previous tenant who jumped on a plane back to China, hence was outside my flat using a perfectly good me-space.

I applied for the V5 but then the car mysteriously disappeared a few weeks later :(

I wanted a free Mazda 6.

Done it before a car was dumped next to work carpark for 6 months, Reported to local council and via the DVLA site it was still there 4 month later until someone randomly turned up and took it.

A mate of mine left his old car in a bay outside his house, un-taxed etc. Someone reported it and the dvla fined him and threatened to take him to court if he didn't do something about it. Needless to say he scrapped it a week later. So they do at least occasionally take action.

No mine has never got clamp or towed. :p I had it on the drive or somewhere on the road where it wasn't blocking anyone so they didn't mind :)

Parking is somewhat of a premium outside my flat and there was an abandoned E36, untaxed, uninsured, and an expired MoT sitting around for almost a year. We kinda watched it degrade over time (under a tree, too, so it wasn't helping the paintwork any) and wondered if/when the owner would clean it up.

After a few occasions of us struggling to park I reported it to the council and they/the owner shifted shortly after. I did think about applying for buying it from the owner as I do believe it was a 328i Sport with a manual transmission, but I never got that far.

(assuming you mean sorn)?
surely the definition of SORN is "off road" - so if you have declared a car as sorn then it cannot be on a public road/highway. Any car parked on a public road needs to have MOT, tax and insurance (afaik). If you don't have a garage or drive then technically I doubt you can legally have a sorn'd car.

You are correct.

Yes I can't spell or construct sentences most of the time :(.

Yes I am aware the law says it has to be off the road but the law also says many other things like you have to travel at or below the speed limit. As long as it doesn't bother anyone it doesn't really matter. It doesn't need to be road worthy to be parked on a road. It's not like it could crash into anyone when it's parked :P

so, if I was to speed, it's my choice and I would blame myself for my actions, if/when I got caught. But, you knowingly break the law by choosing to have a sorn'd car on the road and instead of blaming yourself for your actions, you would blame (or be annoyed at) whoever that caught you? Isn't it just easier to keep the sorn'd car off the road?

Wait until someone crashes in to your SORN car parked on the road and calls their insurance, then your stuffed. It comes with a possible prison sentence and/or 5k fine.
