.. if so, which one please? I am needing to relocate one of my dev servers to my loft and am not wanting to run any CAT5 round the house to do so!

Not being funny, if I wanted to run CAT 5 cable round my house I would have done so, rather than trying to suss out the wireless possibilities :) I did spec in the original post I am not looking to run cables, I have run out of space with my other dev servers (work etc.) but I need this active for some new testing I have to do.

Plus the wife would kick my ass if I ran cables around and up the walls to the loft etc ;)

When i was using Server 2008, it had no problems with my Buffalo pci card, as far as i know most cards that work in vista will work with server 08.

yup

vista drivers should work fine

remember you need to install the wireless feature in 2008, otherwise it can't find any networks

ive tried more routers than i can remember and ive tried out about 10 different USB keys all in combination...

unless you only use firefox/internet explorer .. 100% cat 5/6 cable -- and to be clear, id rather have the cable to make my house look like a server room than deal with all the hassle with wireless i had

The Realtek (USB) one that's built onto my Asus P5K-E works fine in 2k8. Can't remember the number offhand. Try Google?
