Hey guys,

I love my V600 case, but its a bit loud. Ive ordered a Zalman for on the cpu (hopefully it fits) but its still a bit loud over all. There is also a Zalman on the gpu, and a Tagan psu, so im guessing its down to the case fans/case.

Before I lay out £40 or so for new fans and acoustic matting stuff, do you think its worth it? Theres a lot of holes in this case, which I wouldnt want to block with the matting too much, so I guess thats where the soun is coming out. So before I buy that stuff, which is equal to half a new case, do you think its worth it?

If any of you can comment on how you sorted out noise in your V series case, that would be appreciated :)

By the way, all fans are currently on 7V.

The stock Adda fans in most Lian Lis aren't very good at 7V. I recommend Yate Loon D12SL-12 fans. They're silent at 7V and perform quite well, especially given their minuscule price.

Ah ill hunt down some of those then. Thanks.

I wonder if anyone can comment on the paxmate being of benefit in this case?

:)

Paxmate makes very little difference, however it does look nicer. I am running Nexus fans in mine, which are the yate Loons running at 1000rpm. The loudest think in my system is the pump/Hitachi HD and they're quiet.

If you have a PSU with a 120mm fan then cancel the Zalman and get a Silverstone NT-06 lite instead. Then get 2 Yate-Loon D12SL-12's, 7V them and set them both blowing into the case. You now have only 3 fans instead of 4, and those 3 are pretty darn silent now. I had a couple of V600's when they first came out and I settled on two optimal configurations - the one mentioned above and a totally silent system with no fans at all except the PSU and a Zalman Reserator.

My Tagan has a pair of 80s, so im stuck with active cooling on the CPU really. There isnt a great deal of airflow at that area.

So positive pressure is the way to go?

Swapped it out for a Lian Li PC343B :D

I used to use a V2100B+ and wasn't that impressed with the noise. As a case the build quality is hard to beat but when you start to fill it with disks, RAID cards etc it starts to struggle a wee bit. The rear crossflow blower does a good job of dumping the heat but it's no silent wonder.

Sell the Tagan and buy a 120mm fan PSU. The Tagans hold their value very well, so the cost to change should be minimal I would have thought.

I was always led to believe that they were designed to run positive pressure - hence all those holes.

Ill switch over to a 120mm PSU then. MM for the tagan!

I tried running positive pressure last night, but need some bolts to be able to switch the side fan around. I'll try again later :)

Wow, that's an old post! (2007)
But i'm thinking about getting a V600 case, so i'd rather ask :

1. Does it make that much noise ?
2. Where does the noise come from ? Vibrating side panel ?
3. What if you use the silencing foam, sold in the OcUK shop?
-> is it efficient for dampening the sound ?
-> does it not keep too much heat in ?
4. Is the Lian Li PC-A04B as noisy as the V600 ?
5. What about the Silverstone TJ08-E, in terms of noise ?
