Looking to make the move from Vista to W7. However, I'm not sure what drivers to use for everything, chipset, LAN, sound etc.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please?. It's a "vanilla" P5K with a Q6600, spec in my sig.

Also, what Windows 7 would I see the best results from installing, 32 bit or 64 bit?. I'm probably going to buy a retail version and as far as I know, both 32 bit and 64 bit comes in the box?. Currently running Vista Ultimate x86 so 64 bit operating systems will be a "new" thing for me. :)

But yeah, back to my original question - drivers. Any advice?. Ta.

Thanks Tealc. So what you are saying is that during the install of W7, it will pretty much install all the drivers I need automatically without having to download and install anything specific from the Asus site?.

*Edit* - Hatter, got any links to the drivers?. I had a look at the Asus site but I'm not sure where and what to go for?. I did find a compatibility list for W7 and Asus boards that listed various P5K's but didn't have any mention of the "P5K" vanilla one with no added prefix?.

Ahh, no worries - Found the driver page for the P5K and it lists the driver downloads as being for Vista/Windows 7 in both x86 and 64 bit flavours so I guess I'm on the right page there.

So - To just let W7 auto install everything and leave it at that or once the fresh install of W7 is complete, download and install the Asus drivers from the site?.

Cheers guys, I think I'll go with a fresh install of W7 64bit and see how it runs with just the Windows 7 built in drivers to begin with then use the Asus ones if needed. I am actually using the onboard sound and find it fine so I'll maybe have to look into that by the sounds of things. I get the "false start" thing on my P5K under Vista but I wasn't aware it was a bug, I thought it was supposed to do that?.
