Anyone see Vermeluen get sparked

Was watching this on sky sports news last night, i was in tears.

Found it on Youtube as well here qualitys not great but you can see whats happening.

Happened about 10 days ago, the crowd were heckling him so he launched the ball at them, then started screaming at them, and going at them with a bollard thing, then this bloke came over flung him on the deck and started smacking him one.

Was down Lancashire, or Leicestershire or summit, man i was crying, was brilliant.

He got a 10 yr ban reduced to only 1yr with 2 suspended, and they say crickets boring.

Have already seen the footage, was a little surprised when the guy cracked him, tho he probably deserved it.

You can see it better on the BBC site, but they stop it just as he starts getting a pasting.

So the crowd abuse him for no *real* reason at all, he starts taunting them back - and then some bloke starts punching him, and then punches him again while he's on the floor. That's past what's necessary in any situation, that bloke should go to jail.

So what you're saying is the official should have allowed Vermeluen to throw the potentially dangerous marker into the crowd (after he had already thrown a cricket ball at them)

I do agree the punches were probably uncalled for, but I think the fact that Vermeluen hasn't pressed charges is quite telling.

Yeah they were heckling him as he hit some bad shots, or bowled some poor balls one of the two, so he slung the ball into them, apparently just missing some children, then he just started going ape, and he picked up a boundry marker to go into them with to start hitting them, the bloke who was smacking him one was part of the club, comedy gold it was.

I was in tears when that bloke flung him on the deck and started punching his face in.
