Anyone sleep with a weapon?

Anyone that feels the need to sleep with a weapon is either a paranoid fruit loop or has done stupid things to bad people

Your post is so full of **** it's unbelievable. Maybe you should get out in the real world once in a while.

You can choose to live wherever you desire, to live somewhere dangerous is your own fault, though obviously it would be nice if there were no dangerous areas...

You also have to remember that your weapon can ALWAYS be turned against you, so its not always useful.

Beyond all that, a common household has several different unassuming items that could be used as a weapon anyway, so why go all out on some frivolous attempt at security?...which may be at the cost of your sanity at some point?

We must have some Americans on here that have an AK47, M16, 6 hand guns, a knife and a grenade under their pillow. Not to feel safe, just because they can.

100k Americans were shot during the typing of this post :D

To be fair you cannot always choose to live where you desire Some people cannot get other housing, cannot afford to move, and have no choice but to stick out where they live. I know this because I have family in the poorest parts of Bradford that are in this situation.

I'm waiting for arek's response.

I have [insert item arek almost certain can't afford to own] to [insert absurd scenario]. I am so good

There, you can build your own :)

What nonsense, plenty of people do not have such choices, for whatever reason they are trapped by their circumstances.

Its not nonsense if some people do, that's a rather harsh word to use.

But if people still think it is, then ignore it, but the rest of my statements are correct, even if cold.

I think the rest of your statements are just based on armchair theory. If you live in a high-risk area it's better to have something to defend yourself and loved ones with, regardless of whether it can be turned against you or not. I think if you look at your statement historically, mankind has never once been of the mind that: "I won't have a weapon to defend myself just in case it gets used against me". People have always felt more comfortable having something to defend themselves with, and just because we live in a modern society that instinct hasn't changed.

Society may have progressed, and we may have a developed policing and judicial system, but some people are still subject to violence or property trespasses on a regular basis and it's only right that if you have been under threat or think you will be under threat in your own home that you have something to hand which you can use to protect yourself. A baseball bat is a good solution to that... legal, no edges, good reach, and less likely to cause damage to yourself or loved ones than a blade. Keeping one under your bed in those circumstances is hardly like having a loaded gun in your draw.

can't see the need tbh...

there are plenty of objects around the flat which could be used as weapons if required - I don't see much reason to have one stored specifically for the task

No, because that's pre-meditated ****.

If I happen to find a knife in the kitchen, well...

If someone breaks in quietly in the middle of the night and you only notice them whole they are already downstairs then you're pretty much screwed for getting hold of that kitchen knife. At that point you'll need whatever is to hand upstairs.

Softball metal bat in the bedroom, but I don't sleep with it.
It just happens to be there, was a gift and never got it placed on a wall, would look out of place, so instead its in a drawer.

i do. many years ago i had people break in while i was in bed and push against my bedroom door.
they legged it when they realised someone was in and it was a crap area but i still have a baseball bat, a crowbar and a large knife under my bed!
mainly for tradition really - if anything happens i'll scream like a little girl and hide under my covers.
