Make of it what you will...

If accurate that looks like quite a nice gain...

Edit - I'd be curious to know if a Crysis demo even exists let alone in the same room with the ATI card... seems dubious the more I think about it.

I suppose that given Gibbo's reaction to the card (he was kinda impressed, kinda 'muh') I'd say those benchmarks are certainly possible. Is the HD 2900XT the R600 edition that Gibbo had a hands on with?

2 fps @ 1600x1200

@ my resolution of 1920x1200 if all those benchies are close to the truth my 8800GTX is gunna reign supreme :D and without the BS wait all the ATi guys have been holding on 4 (yes i used to run ATi but i gave up waiting)

Well there's no reason to assume that just because the marks get closer as the res go up that the nVidia card would actually beat the ATi. More likely is that the difference would be just 1fps or something like that. 41 and 40 or something.

/agree

If the ATi solution is a lot better i for one will be switching but from early reports im pretty happy my $604 went to nVidia

Well the fact that I think Crysis is still in its Alpha (correct me if im wrong) stage may be something to go by.

And also the whole driver support for the game and R600/G80 in XP and Vista/DX10.

doesn;t seem to be a huge drop in framerate going from 1024x768 to 1600x1200 with 4xAA and 16xAF, bit shocking that. from looks alone i would guess that there could be cpu limitation there. but not enough info to confirm that.

lol definate fakes.... in fact crysis team are using the only DX10 available card as a form of reference for there Crysis game which is the 8800 GTX.

Chances are its gonna be built/optimised for Nvidia better over ATI.
