Considering going up to London for a few days over the Christmas period and considering staying in the shangri la in the shard. Anyone here been? If so what's it like? Anywhere else I should be considering over this place?

Thanks

Grand a night?

id stay in a travel lodge or similar there's a nice one near Holborn.

Spend the other 900 quid on

1 above average hooker for the whole evening/day
2 bottles of vodka
2g of powder
a pizza

an oyster card and entrance to all the crap things to see in London.
McDonald's lunch x 2 (1 for the hooker)

Travelodge is actually one word, and you're lying about there being a nice one - they're all grim :p

At least it sounds like you know how to treat a lady!

For the same money (and possibly less actually) I'd be inclined to stay at The Langham, Claridges or The Savoy to be honest. I appreciate you don't get the view, but that can be achieved by going to the Shard for lunch or dinner.

Yeah me too, for a weekend away or staycation type thing it's kinda in the wrong location for something in that price range IMO, probs quite nice if staying in London for something work-related. I guess nice as a one-off because of the view as you mentioned.

Lol :D

I went up the Shard on a beautiful clear day. The layer of filth hovering over the whole city is quite something. :p

That's not a nice way to describe the locals going about their day...

I'd vote for going for a drink and staying somewhere cheaper. That's what I did in Hong Kong with the Ritz Carlton where I saw the very memorable view and had 2 amazing cocktails for £60.
