anyone still on XP?

Just do some text in Windows 7 and I will do it in Windows XP for comparison.

It's very site-dependent. OcUK looks OK in XP's Cleartype. Some sites don't (but look good in 7's Cleartype).

I'll find some examples. Shouldn't take too long. I was on an XP machine the other day and was convulsing over how bad the fonts were. It was an SP2 machine, in fairness... not sure if SP3 would change anything.

still on XP here! :D

win 7 is only better for running just cause 2 and shattered horizon :p

honestly, this : )

the only reason I upgraded to 7 is because I wanted to play Just Cause 2 and because we are switching to 7 at work, so I wanted to be prepared. But XP is still perfectly fine if you can get without JC2.
2GB of ram in XP is the same thing as 4GB in 7 = fine in just about all games.

I have a dual boot system and I'm still using Windows XP, along with Windows 7 x64. There are plenty of good games that won't run under Windows 7 x64. Two of my favourites being the Act of War games and Beyond Good & Evil, and there's plenty of others. In terms of speed there's not much difference between them. Personally I would say XP is slightly faster, and probably the reason why I tend to use Windows XP more than Windows 7. I mainly use Windowx XP for gaming and Windows 7 for Applications or DX10 games like Crysis. They are both good operating systems, unlike Vista which was a disaster and a resource hog.

just about the only real problem XP is the artificial ram cap, which means we all will have to use win 7 or higher eventually in the future :(
but for now 2 GB + XP is perfectly fine for anything atm

I was on XP for the last 6 or so years and only switched to 7 a few months back (completely avoided Vista). The transition was smooth and I love it.

However, I'm going to have to dual-boot for older games that have been made to work fine on XP but either haven't been fixed yet or otherwise have major problems on 7. No biggie though, as I've loads of space and it isn't a bother at all.

I don't need to prove anything, the fact is; some PCs run Windows 7 faster, some run Windows XP faster.

This is strictly speaking of 32bit.

like for like i have yet to see any run faster for gaming... , i am sure there are exceptions but that is just pedantic.
You quoted me, yet are unwilling to bring anything meaningful to the discussion so it is pointless taking this any further.

All 32bit versions.

Plenty more, but like I said... Anything could affect the speeds. Some cases Windows 7 is faster, some cases XP is.

Now, anything else?

Admitedly i was flippant in my responce to you and was proven wrong, for that i apologise to the op

I would be interested in the source for your link

That's just from a user, there are far more that indicate XP is faster or that Windows 7 is, so it's all pretty much down to personal preference.

I've have had XP installed for years and never get any issues.

Then again, I don't install every piece of crap under the sun.
