I've played since boneyards and then once zone was axed i quit for years. Just back into it and it's still as good as ever.

Yes, its awsome, especially for LAN play. Got it working on the school computers a few years back too... :)

Much better than SupCom!

Well i play on WarZone all the time.

If anyone wants help with patches etc i'm free to help. Don't get me wrong, i like COD4 etc but TA is just simple tactics. Really makes you think :)

I always got very confused by the patches. there was so many official and unofficial ones that didnt work with each other that we resorted to just playing over LAN with either Clean TA with CC and BT addons, or the Absolute Anihilation mod.

I just used TA, CC then the official 3.1 patch. Followed by TA-bugfix 1.6 (since it fixes unit behaviour issues, and a few other important things).

Ive just loaded up TA Spring (open source mod/amazigness for TA classic) its a totally updated engine with new functionality and its pretty amazing. Def worth a look!

When I got into Supreme Commander all I could think was "this isn't as good as TA" is it just nostalgia or is TA actually better? lol

I think what I'd say is that when I played Sup Com, I realised just how advanced and forward-thinking TA was, because in terms of game mechanics, there's surprisingly little difference between the 2 games.

However, it's not a better game. Total Annihilation's AI was very, VERY poor in many respects; apparently the AI was able to build nuclear missile launchers but it didn't know how to build missiles INSIDE the silos :D

One area I do think TA excelled was the orchestral music score, which I thought was fantastic :)

You don't play strategy games against AI as it removes the strategy element.

must say i got nuked a fair few times on TA, albeit that was with some 'banzai AI' or something

Much prefer TA over SupCom.

And yeah, if you got the better AI packs the CPU players were damn good!

Haha.. Good ol' TA. I remember when my computer couldn't handle Seven Islands because it wanted 64MB of RAM. Playing on Metal Heck instead, though, with 3 AI. That was awesome. Positioning a Big Bertha so it could aim right down the map without hitting any of the terrain. Ah.. Good times!
