Anyone stung for tethering charges yet?

It's been a while since people have been able to hack the tethering option, just wondered if anyone has been charged extra for it or had any form of warning?

Did you update your carrier settings from iTunes and if so, has it left your tethering unaffected?

gurdas: I have and it seems to have not changed the tethering at all. Though i use it very rarely.

I installed the carrier update and it had no effect on tethering. No charges either, also a very light user though.

How could they tell if you are browsing the web from your phone or PC (tethered)?

User agent in web requests, that's about it really.

Presumably also the type of data that's flowing through. For example, not gonna be downloading torrent files on your iPhone.

Doesn't it direct traffic through a different O2 "server" (don't know the cellular terminology) when you have tethering activated?

Doesn't their legitimate tethering plan have a data cap? They'd have to be able to differentiate it from your non-tethered usage.

not if your phone is say "prison breakd" then you can dload anything you want on your iphone... which my friend has done i think

Tethered, updated and all fine!

Not stung yet. Used it rarely/when I didn't have a physical connection.

Total usage... 100mbish and service was rubbish it kept dropping and was slow...
