I horde lots of porn and bluray movies and games , buy 2 of the same t shirts if I like them , don't like any finger marks on my electricals ie: TV , laptop , hifi also I keep all my boxes and the wife go's nuts ! Also if i go on holiday I worry about my mancave :D

Sometimes I guess I feel burdened by all these rituals and wish I wasn't so attached to material things but I still love my gadgets and porn stash ::mad:
 
OCD is a recognised medical condition which severely hampers ones ability to function in everyday life.

No diagnosis yet , but I do get anxious if I dont get new movies or games for my archives and I don't even watch or play half of them :eek: Its good to know I sound normal :D
 
A friend of mine suffers from it, when I say suffers I mean is in constant turmoil with the condition.
Checking thing numerous times, making sure things are done in a correct order and multiple times and has been reduced to tears with the worry and thought he's missed something. Terrible.
 
No, but if I see a plug socket with the switch turned on & nothing plugged in I have to turn it off & can't settle until I have.

Few years ago I went to a training centre to do an ITIL exam, I walked into the exam room & all the sockets were turned on but didn't have anything in them. I had to go round & switch them all off before I sat down, which drew a few funny looks from both the other students & the exam invigilator.
 
That is not OCD. That is just quirky behaviour.
I suffer from actual OCD which causes me a huge amount of stress and difficulty with daily life. OCD isn't just about washing hands or being tidy (in fact that's quite rare). With me there are certain things that I MUST do, even though I know I don't need to do them. If I don't do them I can't function.
I wasn't always like this. I developed it after I had a nervous breakdown in 2002.
 
Actual OCD is a terrible thing to watch someone suffer with. Its not just 'I like everything spotless and neat' as most people seem to think it is. In fact people with OCD can live in a house that looks like a bombsite, simply down to the fact that there compulsions take over the majority of there time.

At a push you might have what I have which is OCPD, do you like things symmetrical and in order? i'e 2 of everything etc (its usually even numbers). Lightswitches I can relate to, i'll walk downstairs to turn the landing light on so the switches are 'correct' Everything has to be clean and tidy and do you find yourself making a lot of lists? Also do you consider yourself socially 'awkward', public displays of affection in particular?

Basically OCD is a nightmare for those that suffer from it, you don't really suffer from OCPD, I even find satisfaction from tidying up. Its what most people would consider as 'being anal' or 'quirky'
 
Yep, although very mild, the worst element is intrusive thoughts. Other annoying parts are feeling the need to have to do something.

Makes you feel a bit like a psycho, even though obviously you aren't.
