Anyone switch sides from nVidia to AMD?

If you think buying gpu's on there looks is a bad reason try this one for size...
I wont ever buy a nvidia card in my life ever, even if there top card was 100% faster and half the price of amd's top card purely because nvidia stiched 3DFX up and then bought them out and shut them down stealing all there tech in the process, ie: open gl!
I know 3DFX didnt help them selvs, but they were british and were the founders of gpu's and i miss them so much!!! :-(

i wouldnt worry about vram at the moment, dunno what all the fuss is about i have gamed on a dell 30" @2566 x 1600 for years now, and never experienced any problems, i currently have 2 x gtx480's 1.5gig vram, and game quite happily at around 50-60 fps on bf3 with no vram issues whatsoever, no stuttering nothing, the need for lots of aa at that res isnt nescesary because the res is so high anyway.

Hi nalla,
Good too hear that 1.5gb can cope at that res.All I can do is wait and see
how my 1 gtx580 performs. If it can't max my games I will need to sell soon
as I can see a massive drop in 580 prices in the coming weeks, even Gibbo
said on the another thread that 580's not selling at current price point.
Again thanks for everyones feedback.
