Morning

I'm thinking on buying an origional xbox and transforming it into a media centre as a little project.

Has anyone else done this and has it worked?

Did you use an action replay kit or did you mod the xbox controller?

I'm interested to know if its worth tinkering with.

Thanks :)

I might do this someday but I'm content using ps3 media server to play content on my hd tv.

Not sure about how HD playback works on XBMC on the xbox.

As above, i have one in my loft, its awesome for sd content and works faultlessly but its lack of Native HD support and underpowered hardware to deal with it with mods means its outdated badly, a wdtv incarnation is a better option these days.

It's falling of a cliff of support now since it's been dropped to branch status, but with some forum searching and the hard work of a few individuals I still managed to update mine with Camelot/Confluence. Not sure I would sink any cash into them now though.

I've started to use a notebook on a docking station running XBMC for 720p stuff with the old xbox remote via Eventghost.

Still have both of mine up and running. Fine for anything but HD video.
Mine is currently mainly used for playing high resolution vinyl rips (24bit and up to 192khz) through the amps and iplayer in the bedroom (yes, even with BBC trying to stop it - iplayer is still possible)

I did it with a poundland special xbox memory card and modding the action replay software to recognise it.
