Anyone tried Corsair's Value Select?

I was just wondering if anyone could vouch for Corsair's value select DDR2 range of RAM. From what I gather if I don't intend to overclock I don't need to fork out for modules with fancy heat spreaders.

This will be going in a conroe system though, so let me know if this is the kind of stupid idea that would make you want to scream.

Thanks

About the price, my GeIL DD2 value stuff is actually cheaper with heat spreaders :p.

And, yes, they do actually work pretty well. :)

indeed it is cheaper has better timings and clocks up and past 700mhz ;) :D ok you your not bothered about clocking but getting a conroe and not clocking would be criminal :p
But i suppose there is nothing actually wrong with the value select for what it is.......

So you think the GeIL is a better choice?

It's only 3 quid cheaper. Is GeIL's quality reputation comparable to Corsair's?

Oooh, the pressure mounts!

Ok. So both Corsair VS and GeIL Value have their fans. I'm torn.

Has anyone out there had bad experiences with either of these?

The only slighty dodgy thing was I needed to change the command rate to 1t to run in dual channel, as you do, manually after running in single channel for a bit...

Yea, so i'm a nub on ram, never had a mobo that is dual channel compatable before :p

So, do you normally need to change it manually or was it a mobo issue and not ram? :)

I went for GeIL value DDR2 in the end. When spending a ton I DESERVE heat spreaders!

Reason for the switch? Everyone said Corsair was good ram but no one ever said it was better than the GeIL. Plenty of people said the GeIL was the better choice.

I couldn't get my head round the different types of ram GSkill did. What's with the little letters? Just tell us what the difference is!

GSkill --> At the same speed rating, cheaper equals less overclocking potential or slacker timings basically .
