Many thanks but its all working now. Installed minefield which to be honest I had forgotten about. Great browser, still torn between that and Chrome tho!

Just test driving Firefox 4 Beta 9 right now.

Its...... very different.

Slightly quicker, but a few of the menue buttons have changed position etc....

Also not sure about which I like more tabs on top or bottom.

Whats the benefit of tabs on top?

Also just noticed that the progress bar is missing from the bottom of the browser...

Yup progress bar has gone, rollover a link and you'll see it appear next to your address/awesome bar!
All the browsers are moving towards less menus meaning more real estate for webpages...

Tabs on top looks nicer when done right, IMO FF4 doesn't yet do tabs on top as visually appealing as FF3 mods like TwentyTen but I hear the UI could still be tweaked for FF4 RC.

The position of the refrsh button is odd as well.

I do like the old Firefox 3 back, forward and refresh positions.

I still find that Firefox is still far to cpu intensive....

Having another play with the Firefox 4 Beta 9....

Right clicking and removing the Menu Bar, makes the browser look very radicle...

There re a few things I dont like.... the rss feed icon, only appears when you enable the bookmarks toolbar, which then leaves a huge amount of space unused, if you just have the rss feeder such as my self.

I havent found anywhere where you can move the rss feeder icon, other than on the bookmarks toolbar.....

The other things I dont like is when you use the more modern firefox ui ie the chrome type one, the open tabs which you dont have open on xp anyway, are far too dark in colour to read what the text says.

Seems a bit messy to me..... I hope this will change before the final version comes out...

Beta 9 doesn't have any new UI changes, IMO doesn't look as nice as FF3's TwentyTen these addon and still, no FireFTP or FEBE update so no upgrade for me!

There are some sick Stylish codes to make it look excellent on neowin but the above compatibility issues means no go for me until these extensions work.

you can always skin/personalise FF4 people....
TwentyTen not been updated for FF4 yet? It is very different....but that's progress. The addons and extensions updates *should* help with the bloat and speed which seems to be the major complaints...

What is excellent however is the 'group your tabs' button/feature.......

I dont have many tabs open at any one time.... but I can see how useful it is.

I wish they had keept the old style back, forward and refresh buttons tho.....

I have a habit of double clicking on the top of the browser to open up a new tab. However using the modern Firefox UI, double clicking just minimises/maximises....

I may grow to get used to this new Firefox UI..... its very different.... especially the new minimised UI, the one that resembles chrome....

One thing that I keep looking out for is the prgress bar... but it is missing.

Hmm seems like the rss feed feature has been ruined in Firefox 4......

When you enable the chrome type UI, you have to enable the entire bookmarks bar inorder to view the rss feeds icon....... I dont have any other bookmarks so its a shame I have to have a whole bar just for feeds...

Also one thing definetly missing is the activity icon. A few times I click a link and I dont know if the page is loading or what....

I hope they dont ship this browser with this UI..... it would be a big dissapointment imo.

They had the buttons and placement of icons spot on in 3.6

Started using Firefox in general on my Windows PC for the past few days. So far loving the beta but how do I turn off the silly voice-over ever time I start the browser up?
