I've seen a good price for the 5700x and there isnt much in it in terms of performance compared to a 5800x one other thing that put me off the 5800x is it gets hotter as for the 5900x i just didn't want to spend that much. I was just thinking if i sold my 3700x it would maybe be a good value upgradeCan I ask why you wouldn't go to a 5800x or 5900x? Just cash?
1440p and i sometimes use NVidia DSR so maybe like you say it wont be too noticeableWhat resolution are you playing at? You'll see decent gains at 1080p but 1440p and above, it'll be smaller. Ideally though I would save up for the 5800X3D for a better jump.
Made the move from 3700X to 5700X for both the wife's and my own machine a couple of months ago. It's not an earth shattering upgrade but results in far better minimums in several games which leads to a smoother experience. For reference these are paired with an undervolted 6800XT, and SAM is also much more consistent with the newer CPU.
Choosing the 5700X was not about cost in our case, but about dissapated heat. We have two gaming PCs in a small room and didn't wish to add another watt of TDP to that enviroment.
thanks guys im certainly tempted with the 5700x im just holding out for a price dropI went from a 3700x to a 5900x, but your upgrade to a 5700x would be pretty much the same in a gaming context. Slightly better highs, much better lows, all round smoother experience.
Oh ok so if I lower the tdp to say 65w I will get the same performance as a 5700x?Get 5800x. Good deals on them and you can lower tdp to suit your temps/cooling
Ah ok the 5800x is definitely something to consider then there doesn't seem to be many deals at the moment but I'll keep an eye outsame all core performance. however low thread/load will be better performance since 5800x boosts to higher clocks.
