My LG Viewty is DEAD :(

I'm thinking of buying a Iphone 2g and a O2 sim only contract, 1200 texts, 600 minutes and unlimited Wifi for £20 a month. Does anyone else do this?

Why not? The iPhone 2G is still a great phone.

Lack of 3G doesn't help (but location and network may make that irrelevant), lack of GPS is a bigger problem. I mean it depends what you want to use it for but I do agree personally I wouldn't touch anything less than a 3G myself...

I have used the O2 Simplicity plan on all versions of the iPhone and they all run great. TBH I don't even use much 3G as it drains too much battery.

My girlfriend has my old 2G with a Simplicity sim in, I think all that you lose over a regular iPhone account is the "Visual Voicemail" (you just get normal voicemail).

I'd opt for the web bolt on, rather than the wifi bolt on. I switched over to a 20/pm simplicity when I got my 3GS.

With the Iphone 3G o ncontract you get unlimited web for the duration of your contract? :) stuck between Iphone 3g - 18 months (£90 phone) or Iphone 3GS (£90 phone) 24 months :|

If you go for the iPhone contract then yes, you get unlimited web & wifi. If you go for simplicity, you have to take the web bolt on.

It's a no brainer to go for the 3GS if given the choice. (when getting a new phone, whether it's worth upgrading if you already have a 3G is up for debate)

I'd say it's actually a no brainer to pay more now and take an 18 month contract on the 3GS rather than the two options mentioned. My iphone is 10-11 months old now, it's been fairly well treated and almost always been in a case but it's showing enough wear and tear that I wouldn't want to be tied in for more than 18 months from new at most...
