I'll try keep this super brief but basically week back my pc started blue screening constantly and I had no idea why, did a little digging found out ram can cause blue screens. Now I've always had blue screens since I built this pc couple months ago, only very occasionally (but my pc before I never blue screen I put it down to windows 8 being gay). But it got worse week back.

So I get memtest and test my ram, comes back with 1705 errors I'm like WHAT THE HECK?! so I then test other stick get no errors.I then go into bios to check ram settings see one of settings on my mobo to boost ram so I turn that off and although voltage was already auto 1.5 I set it to 1.5 manually to make sure.

I then try the stick with errors again in another slot and get way less errors like 10 or something. (I also tested the second "good" stick multiple times and one time got 1 error on it) Basically I ran memtest a few times on each stick once. Eventually errors stopped? so I then popped both sticks in ran memtest and got no errors so thought ok must be ok right?

I freshly reinstalled winodws few days back when I was testing the sticks and It's been ok for like last 4ish days and just had a blue screen again. Not constantly yet.

Any ideas on this? what are my next moves?

Thanks

My Mobo is a gigabyte Z87D3HP

And that is my memory.

Any errors on memtest is a problem. It should be able to run for say... 24 hours clean.

Re-installing windows does nothing to your memory.

On default settings your memory should just work, with some of the higher end stuff you may need to manually set voltages and timings, or select an XMP profile in the BIOS to get the most out of it.

Getting these settings wrong can cause problems, but it doesn't sound like you've got it wrong.

Heat can be a problem, is your memory in an air-flow dead spot in your case?

Yeah I just mentioned it I didn't do it to fix memory I was doing it anyway so I can be sure it's nothing to do with windows the repeated crashes.

Yeah settings appear default, although this motherboard annoys me with all its OVERCLOCK DIS OVERCLOCK DAT EXTREME PROFILEZ!!!! (I really couldn't give two craps about ocing anything...) the ram timings on OCUK say 9-9-9-27. Mine are at 9-9-9-24 I just tried to change them and it won't seem to let me.

Edit: NVM appears 24 is default on crucial site ocuk just have it wrong.

And airflow is fine, my room is literally freezing LOL.

Any errors at default speeds = get the ram replaced

I have even seen RAM pass 4+ loops of memtest without errors (about 4+hours of testing)
and still cause weird screwups etc in windows

I'll have to do an RMA with crucial I guess,

I took out 1 stick and windows wouldn't even boot blue screen instantly. I then switched sticks and I'm now able to get into windows.

I think both may be funky though just one less so than other, any chance anything else could be at root of this problem?
