i signed up a while ago, and im in need of a battery grip, teleconvertor (af lense, not af-s) and a remote. Being that the camera is old (D70) i am not sure where to buy these or even what models i need, for instance nothing shows up on google as at the time of the D70 a battery grip wasnt available, one is however available for the D80 that replaced it, so i simply wondered if it would fit ?

Then i get this pm:

D70 gear
Hi

Sorry, I have removed your thread regarding wanting equipment. We have quite strict rules in our classified section, and your wording is such that it could be construed as trying to trade outside the classifieds [a - no allowed, and b - you dont ave enough posts/membership time to trade within them yet]

Such a thread would normally invoke an infraction, but as you are new, I am just letting you know on this occasion

If you really want advice on what is available for your camera, I suggest perhpas reposting with more 'advice orientated' wording.

Thanks

Yvonne.

Lol @ infraction.

It seems i cant even get an answer so I will ask here :

will a D80 battery grip fit a D70 ?
If not, what one do I need ?

Also, I want a 2x teleconverter for a 70-300mm AF lens, not AF-S, therefore all the new ones wont work ? What do you suggest I get ?

Nazi mods for the lose!!!! (talkphotography)

The D70 never had a battery grip from Nikon. Harbortronics made one but it was somewhat short lived. The shutter release was a little fibre optic cable the you sort of stuck near the IR remote input.

I seem to recall another after market one as well, but I do not remember who made it, but it also used the IR trigger as there is no wired remote release on the D70 unless you are brave and want take your D70 apart and modify it!

Ian is correct. We have a D70 and the D80 grip won't work, which I found out following a visit to Grays of Westminster. If you really want the grip, one option would be to eBay the D70 and buy a D80 on the same site, the price differential was minimal when I last looked.

Sweet talk the missus...tell her you NEED a D80....duck from slap, go out and buy one...

Sorted...
talkphotography had some real problems with people abusing deals started on the forums, and have introduced a whole new set of rules...go figure!

exactly. the mods over on TP are a friendly bunch, if they felt the thread broke the rules and surely all it would take would be to reword the thread so that it doesnt sound like you were fishing for someone to sell you the kit.
