I found the thing more troublesome than anything to install and come to think about it would've rather just not used it. Any pro's/con's for its use or is it just for aethetics albeit which you're never gonna see?

well it will mean that you get more dust in yor system.

I have a couple of old MoBo's I've lost the I/O plate for but they work just fine without it.

(Actually I think the plate is for EMI sheilding but (and more than likely) I'm probably talking rubbish :p

I always use it if it's available.

Partly because it helps keep the airlfow where it should be going, and partly because it looks neater.

I use it because it is specifically designed for the motherboard and some motherboards use different socket placements etc which don't quite tally with a standard I/O plate that may come with a case. It isn't necessary but it is also another thing to hold the motherboard securely in place plus it looks neater.

Yes you should use it!!

Why?

Mainly because it stops objects from being accidentally dropped into the case which could result in shorting something out on the mobo if the object were to be conductive.
Also without it you could very easily poke the motherboard when fiddling around trying to plug cables in, this could both short out the mobo or even physically damage a component on the mobo.

USE THE I/O PLATE ;)
