been waching some of the demos and it looks excellent.

I've been playing a lot of LOMAC recently (and will be getting FC/BS when I can get my hands on them), and wondered if TrackIR is any good, or just a bit of a gimmick? With xmas on the way, it could be a good pressie for me :)

I also presume they are adding more and more support for newer games?

I plan to buy it when Armed Assault comes out, Im going full out with that game.

Edit: NOT A GIMMICK, its been around a while know and players swear buy it, its the future! :P

I wondered what it was when it appeared in the EvE options. I reckon it'll be massive, like those joypads that had tilt sensors in them to replace sticks.
Except ten times more expensive.

by gimmick I didn't mean a flash-in-the-pan sort of gimmick, rather the epensive-toy-and-not-much-use kind of gimmick.

I agree it looks excellent, and I am toying with the idea of getting one.

but at £70 its quite expensive, and I value the opinions of my fellow gamers :)

it would be useless in some games, yet the perfect tool in others that require you to look around, flight sims and armed assault type games, its just another level of simulation and depth added to the game to make you feel your really there.

i have used it once at a friends, and was a very strange feeling, even the slightest of movements was registered, but very good for Flight Sims, makes it a whole lot easier to see what your doing at one time, plus for Driving games it makes it much more realistic..

I have one.

It takes a while to get used to it, but really helps bring games "alive".

Just remember to remove the track-hat beofre you go outside!

Buy one, well worth it!

ive been thinking about trackir then realized that when you move your head left, your eyes need to go right to look at it on the screen. Same with looking right eyes go left. After a while your eyes will ache. Be reallllly good with 3 screens though.

from looking at the demos it looks like you do not have to move your head a significant amount for it to register, so eyes shouldnt get strained.

Am getting very tempted. could well make an appearance on my xmas list :)

My brother has trackIR (that is the one with the funny hat isnt it...) and says he basically can't play without it nowadays. If you are into flight sims, and dont mind looking abit odd, you should definatly get it :D

The sensitivity on them is "on the fly" much like razor mice. You can adjust really easily.

What bothers me is that you have to keep pritty much still throughout the whole experience otherwise you keep moving your view evertime you seem to move. ;)

Yep another vote for TrackIR here, I got mine off ebay for 50 quid or so. Great for flight sim, also works in GTR/GT Legends, though not quite as useful but you do find yourself looking into the corners.

The amplification of head movement means you can don't have to move far so you are still looking at the screen.
