anyone use windows live?

Windows Live is a brand for a range of products and services from Microsoft. You'll have to be a lot more specific then that.

they managed to put me off messenger by making it bloaty and slow, (even after 'apatch')

don't think i'll ever use a 'live' product

I can't stand using anyone WLM if they have not used A-Patch to remove all the Junk. Half of the stuff they've added is useless all people need is to chat either buy text or video, who plays games on IM?

pidgin portable is what i use now

really slim, doesn't need installing, has tabbed chat windows and the notification sounds are far more subtle :)

Using Windows Live Mail and Messenger.

It's great being able to check multiple hotmail addresses without having to use the slow web interface!

I use WL Messenger and don't experience any of this slowness that a lot of people comment on

Also my Girlfriends mum uses WL Mail and has not had any issues and seems like a good solid piece of software

I have to use WLM as I have a lot of people on my list which have stupid colors in their name, so I always need to install MSN Plus :(. It's always too much to rename every contact on my list.

Mine does.

Live mail is the best out of the box anti junk I've found recently too, just wish they'd fix the folder view switch bug and speed up the authorisation of pop accounts.

I know your problem, mines exactly the same, unfortunately i'm stuck with it until Digsby get there act together. I'm constantly invited in to multi user conversations or whatever they're called (conference?). Digsby and Pidgin are great otherwise.
