Anyone used a fingerprint reader?

I'm thinking of adding one to my desktop for logon purposes and to use in conjuction with a firefox extension password manager.

It's mainly for the geeky cool factor over necessity. Seen them on laptops and never bothered to look too closely, thought they were a bit cheap and gimmicky. However are there any nice ones I could fix to my desk to use.

What's the verdict on these?

My opinion: Not worth the dosh.

Spend that money on a WC system if you want to lengthen your nerd e-penis.

Wife has an Acer laptop with fingerprint reader. It was unreliable. She stopped using it within a couple of days of having the laptop. Don't know if it was poor driver or poor hardware.

I had one on a USB stick before a couple of years ago that was frankly not great, it was a bit :S

Gf bought a HP laptop at xmas with it on though and it's been fantastic for her... so I think it just depends on the quality

I got one on a portable hdd caddy,more trouble than it was worth,if you get a lot of cuts etc on your fingers it takes lots of goes to get into the hdd
