Love the look of these and seem pretty good for photo use, so I was thinking of taking advantage of student discount and buying a pair instead of the DELL 24"'s that are plagued with problems.

Anyone got one ? Can post pics etc ?

For starters you should know that samsung sell most panels to companys and 2nd that Apple screens are just a white screen with an apple logo, overclockers does not sell there so why are you even asking us these

now to be blunt - apple = overpriced, overhyped scenester crap

Since when does OCUK selling something have to do with anything ? Does ocuk sell cars ? I suggest you avoid Motors ;)

The apple in its favour has the LED backlight. Also as much as they sell a lot of gear on their image they are VERY well made products. The screen in my 24 inch iMac (which I bought purely to muck about with as it was a bargain 2nd hand) is amazing, the colours are awesome and the brightness is spot on as well. Really I think the price is too high on the screens but I think they are a lovely product.

I must have spent around £20000 on PC stuff in my lifetime, 90% all from ocuk, which means ive paid them well over 1k in margin, therefore as im breaking no rules I think I am entitled to ask ?

I think you are entitled to ask the question regardless, and it is in OCuk's interest to do so. These forums are worth jack if you can't get unbiased info. Not linking to other vendors is fair enough, but to ask for censorship is to shoot oneself in the foot since people will just subscribe to other forums instead.

The internet is empowering that way. Wakayoda, learn it and don't invent useless words like 'scenester'.

I got 19% off my 24" apple display with student discount. £514.35 for a 1920 by 1200 LED monitor. Doesn't sound too overpriced to me. Built in speakers and iSight too.

Bought a Samsung 24" lcd with my new PC got it up and running only to find that my 5 year old Apple 23" lcd was in a different class, but if you have not lived with such quality you won't miss it.

I know exactly how you feel. I spoilt myself on the best 15" tft when they first came out and since then only the best will do. It's cost me a small fortune on TFT's thereafter. A friend who's only bought cheaper TN panels seems quite content with the quality which I couldn't 'upgrade' to.

The newer TN+Film panels seem OK and I'm tempted to try a 24"+ TN+Film panel as opposed to the VA panels that cost twice as much.

The apple screen looks especially delicious and if the cost decreases, I may go for one of those.

Bare in mind that the Apple screen has no OSD and only displayPort connection so if you have a Graphic Card with only VGA-DVI is a no go.

No offence but please forget everything about why you think apple is better for photo use.

Any top end panel will be sufficient, and probably will save you a lot of cash.

Sounds overpriced to me, and who actually uses built in speakers?

It's an excellent screen.

For everyone bashing the price, don't compare it to a top end dell and say apple are ripping you off - its an IPS panel with LED backlight, dell don't offer both those features do they?

Compare it with NEC/Eizo monitors and it's considerably cheaper.

My housemate has one and it looks amazing, he's using it with a mac pro.

I have an older 20" Cinema Display which I use with a PC with no problems. Looks great, I can imagine the 24" works fine as long as you have a display port.
