Anyone used Arctic Accelero cooler?

I just ordered one of these in hopes to put an end to the dreadfull noise emitted from the x1800xt.

I've had the arctic fans put on a 9800pro and x800gto2 in the past, but these Accelero's are a different design.

Anyone used one? What's heat implications on the case insides?

I've also just ordered an X1800XT, but it's not due to arrive until Tuesday so I can't say anything about noise. I'm already considering aftermarket cooling though, just for the sake of it, and I can't decide between an Artic Cooling Accelero X2 or a Zalman VF900-CU. :(

I would be interested to hear input from users of both in this thread, if the opening poster doesn't mind of course. :)

Ive heard that the Accelero isnt as good as the Zalman 900.

I did have one of the old ATi Silencers that was very good for my x800xl - seems that this new design they've gone for isn't as effective.

I've not really heard a thing about the Accelero, but the charts on the web page for it seem impressive enough. I've used Zalman before, and was more than happy with their coolers, so I will probably end up sticking with them.

To the OP: Have you considered a Zalman VF900-CU cooler at all? They're only a few quid more than the Accelero and I've heard nothing but good things.

Heya.
Well, it a bit late TBH... I found an accelero at a good price so went for it.
I really wish OcUK was cheaper on delivery. For little items, it makes it uncompetitive to purchase from them due to the extra £8.00 slapped on for City-Link. Maybe that's a suggestion for the guys to take on board. Items less than £30 = Send via post.

Anyways, I did look at Zalman stuff in the past, but it looked way more difficult to install than other things. That prolly aint true of the ZF9000 thingy, but stuck with Arctic 'cos it's been a breeze doing their mods before.

Is this any help!!!

You, my friend, are a great help. I tried looking for a comparison like this in same-charts but came up completely empty, and it's even better that these charts are for an X1800XT since that's what I have ordered.

I'm definitely going for the VF900-CU now, much lower temps.

All reviews I've read which have a comparison between the VF900 and Accelero 2 seem to be unfair. The review always shows the VF900 at full power, and the Accelero on dynamic. The Accelero on dynamic is only going to be spinning at 27% until 80c, which is obviously going to make the Accelero look worse in comparison.

The Accelero at 100% on the other hand, from what I've read elsewhere, wipes the floor with the VF900. While a VF900 on an X1900XTX can hit the high 70's, the Accelero keeps temps in the low 60's.

Problem with the Accelero though, is that the air is directed at your motherboard, which can't be good...

I'm tempted to remount the stock cooler with some AS5, but that won't solve the noise problem :(

I've got the accelero on an x1800xt 256 meg. Personally I'm very happy with it, Main reason for the change was sound levels and the accelero's pleasingly quiet, a vast imporvement over stock. Running the card overclocked and the temps are about 72 degrees underload, which is fine for the card. I too was worried about the fact it blows air onto the mobo - especially as I have a Asus A8N sli premium (i.e. passive cooling) but I only have one 80mm case fan and the mobo temp is 39 degrees under load (CPU and GFX).

I know a lot of people are very happy with the zalman, and I'm sure it's a great cooler, but the accelero is cool enough to clock and whisper quiet so why pay more?

My thoughts exactly, 1900XTX with Accelero here .. cool & quiet + cheap + easy installation ..

You don't think that is completely crap to start with? According to the benchmarks above, the Zalman is as quiet as an Acellero (in LOW speed) at 55c as an Acellero is at 70c. There's no question about it.
