Anyone used carlube oils?

I just use whatever is a cheaper brand in the shop.
All of the engine oils in a motoring shop will be good enough for your car - Paying for a premium brand like Castrol is paying for the name.

I know this doesn't exactly answer your question but I hope it helps:).

The Pug/ Citroen specialist who service my car use Carlube 10W40 semi synth. No complaints from me.

As long as you don't use something daft like Asda smart price oil, I'm sure you won't have any problems. :)

Thats what I thought!

I've got an S60 D5 and was wondering about using either Fuchs 5w30 or the 0w30 Carlube.

Anything 0w30 seems to be really expensive.

Not always true. You are paying for a premium product. However it's debatable whether most owners can justify the premium - You're never going to be able to tell the difference between two oils from the drivers seat.

With the conservative service intervals given by the manufacturer, they have catered for dopes who nail it when cold, under/over fill it and miss the serive by 2,000 miles.
As others have mentioned, as long as it isn't some supermarket value oil it will be fine:).

You are right saying that premium brands can be better, but whether they really are (or if the difference is negligible) I cannot say for sure:p.

I was told by a volvo specialist to use 0w30. However when i went oil shopping last time they all tried to sell me 5w30.

If it meets the same a4/b4 or whatever they are standards as the 0w30 what is the differance? Will it make a differance?

Thanks

Shouldn't really, 0/30 is just thinner.

Yup. Used it for a top up on the 182. Tripple R is the recommended spec but just brought the bog standard 5w40 FS I think. So will switch it over at the next oil change.

Can't really complain at £19 for 5 litres!
