Not always true. You are paying for a premium product. However it's debatable whether most owners can justify the premium - You're never going to be able to tell the difference between two oils from the drivers seat.

I was told by a volvo specialist to use 0w30. However when i went oil shopping last time they all tried to sell me 5w30.
If it meets the same a4/b4 or whatever they are standards as the 0w30 what is the differance? Will it make a differance?

Yep, it's fine. Used by loads of independent garages, very keenly priced by the barrel from ECP.
