Hi all,

Was wondering if anyone can recommend the service from carpet right?

I would like 2 rooms + a hallway done, they have a carpet I like and I think it's going to cost around £500 for carpet + underlay + gripper + delivery & fitting.

IIRC my parents used them when courts went bust, and they did a good job.

However as always with anything reasonably expensive that can't be taken away with you, pay by credit card ;)

Shop around, they kill you on the extras. I paid less than half the price they were charging for underlay and grip-rods etc by looking elsewhere.

The quality on some of their cheaper carpets can be a bit naff as well, I got a synthetic berber look carpet instead of the woolen stuff and it started to wear after only a few months.

Order the carpet from them, but source your own underlay/grippers. You pay a 3rd party to fit it all usually, so you're not fixed with using Carpetrights underlay. Tredair Dreamwalk is excellent and only £3 Sq.M from http://www.tradepriced.co.uk

I bought from them. What they did was they have "contract fitters" who work for them, but are also "independent"?

So i picked out which carpet I wanted, they sent out a fitter, who measured and told me how much I needed, number of grippers, metal bar thingys etc, and then i paid carpet right for it. He picks the stuff up on the day of fitting, comes over and does it. I then pay HIM for the fitting (which I am told the price of before).

All good. Prices were comparable with other places.

If you want, you could get your own fitter, who writes down what you need to buy from carpetright. He can then pick up the stuff and do the fitting. using their own fitter just saved me bother of finding one.

Used the Woking branch a couple of years back and had absolutely superb service after the salesman copied down my measurements incorrectly and turned up with a short piece of carpet.

Wouldn't hesitate to use them again!

Getting a carpet fitted Tuesday. I ended up buying my own underlay (Cloud 9 Cumulus) / Grippers (£5.99 for 120ft) / Metals (£1.99 each) as Carpet Right is way over priced! check this out, a metal from Carpet Right will set you back £9.99 and Underlay is close to £7.99 sqm.

I used http://www.carpet-underlay-shop.co.uk and I can't fault them.

we used the brighton one for our front room, seemed a good price if i recall correctly it wa about £200 inc fitting of about a 9' sq room (give or take) for a nice hard wearing carpet (our front room gets a lot of use and needs to stand up to the destruction a small child can cause :p)

Huge thanks for help. I'm now just going to get the carpet + fitting from carpet right, going to order the underlay from that site above ^. I could save £200+ this way!

Just buy the carpet, source a carpet fitter as they will most likely have second hand underlay and grip spare which they are looking to get rid of, depending on if hes nice or out for a steal he will give you a better price for the extras.

FWIW - It's definitely worth getting a decent underlay, carpet feels much better under your feet when it's got a decent underlay. You don't need to spend loads, but don't just go for the cheapest :)

Thanks for advice. The underlay i went for is that cloud 9 'Cirrus' stuff which is ment to be quite good. Aparently much better the CarpetRight cheapest (which was twice the price).

Hi there

Cloud 9 Cirus / Cumulus underlay is great underlay. I've got it through out the house. The Cirus / Cumulus is the same stuff, only the latter is 11mm thick. It's a lot better than anything Carpet right has to offer plus it's a hell of a lot cheaper :)

You won't be disapointed ;)

Hi guys,

Just thought i'd give you an update as the carpet is now fitted.
It looks and feels great, really am pleased. Thanks for all help/suggestions.

The area I wanted covered was quite an awkward layout. I thought the best way to measure was to take the longest length and width and give the details to the sales guys. I did this and was told that a typical roll was 4m in length, my longest room length was 6.5m. Apparently the carpet I wanted does not 'join' well either so I went home and plotted a diagram of each wall and general layout. I took it back in and the salesguy who was really helpful and I ordered the carpet there. I told them I already had underlay + gripper and that all I wanted was the carpet + delivery + fitting. They were not pushy at all and never tried to sell me any unnecessary stuff.

Total cost of carpet was £230 which you pay on the day. When the carpet was delivered I had to pay £105 for the fitting and delivery. I had some free carpet gripper my dad gave me and I ordered 2 rolls of underlay from the site recommended above (Cloud 9 Cirus) which was £90 delivered.

So, very pleased with how it all worked out and as said, could not be happier with the carpet. :)
