just looking for some tips on this setup, i think simon got this last year? anyway
i have finally got the turbo engine into the cab, after hacking away the bulkhead and welding in a strenthening plate. Wired it up and nothing, checked and double checked my wiring and from what i gather it seems the ecu needs the keypad code that the seller assures me i did not need...........
So i have bit the bullit and have just orderd a megasquirt 2 standalone ecu kit + loom + serial cable and stimulator from USA.just over $400 all in.
This will allow me to do live maping and will be good for future mods and upping boost lots of maps are availible and it seems very easy to map yourself anyway (although i will get it mapped once all running).
i chosethe ms2 over the ms1 that is availible in uk due to the Knock sensor addition + better future upgrades (can get a 4 bar map later if needed + wideband 02)

Has anyone built one of these before? seems i am going to get a big bag of resistors etc and a pcb and have a fun day with my soldering iron.

My mate at street racers is mapping a tom cat on mega squirt. Not as user freindly as Omex 500 or 600 but you should be able to get the same end results.

I really rate Omex as even I can use it and map any car with knocklink / egt and afr meters. Megasquirt is a little more tricky I gather, it's not immitiately obvious what maps / tables do what because of the different jargon in the software.

The price makes up for it though i'm sure, costing about 1/3rd of the price of an Omex 600 setup ot other leading ECU.

Yep, I built mine last year...not not yet got as far as acutaly running an engine with it. Construction is pretty easy as long as you have a decent soldering iron, soldering skills and at least some familiarity with electronic components. The kit I got from the US was very well packed wwith all components being in sepearate bags showing type, value and schematic designation.

Last time I checked the MS2 was lagging a little in support for some ignition options etc. which the original 8 bit CPU had, though that may have changed by now.
