Is it any good? Easy to use? How are the wireless and graphics drivers?

It looks like a really nice up and coming distro, but I've heard about a couple of niggles...

Sabayon is Gentoo based I think. The impression I got from using its very nice and quite easy to use. Of course you would want to read the docs etc on their website. I *think* its some sort of ubuntu competitor I could be wrong.

Best thing to do is try it out. The software is free so just download and give it a try. I'm sure if you are thinking about it you have enough HDD space free to install it. :)

Yea, trying it is a good idea-however, I am already dual booting Vista and Ubuntu, and don't have room for a 3rd distro-I was only considering it as an Ubuntu replacement...

I used to use Sabayon... as already said, it's a gentoo-based distro.

Can't help with wireless as I used it on a PC that's hooked directly into a router. However, it was a cinch to get my Nvidia graphics card working under it (was still using a 6600GT at the time, iirc). I think it might have even been enabled without me needing to do anything at all.

There were a couple of niggles I had with Sabayon... getting my USB keyboard and mouse to work correctly was tedious. The mouse was very jerky, whereas the keyboard was like it was on speed so typing anything was impossible

sssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuttttttttttttttttdddddddddddddddddooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwnnnnnnnnnnn ---------------------hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnoooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwww

...that sort of thing.

Support was much more personalised than the bigger distros. I remember getting some help directly from the main guy responsible for it, which was pretty cool. Other than that, the official forums were slow to respond to my questions.

Not a bad distro overall, but I've been converted to *buntu due to its high user base.

Fair enough, think I'll stick to Ubuntu for now, especially considering I use a wireless mouse and keyboard!!! Tempted to check out Gentoo or Arch in a couple of weeks though, have a bit of time on my hands at the moment...

Arch is slightly orquard from my experence (im a gentoo fan so its hard to change hard set ways), anyway i found some of the documentation poorly written or jsut bad ports of the gentoo stuff :( (that said Arch is still really really fast once you get it going).

I personally recommend Gentoo as it has a really high user base (just remember to use as many search features as you can if you hit problems as the forum modoraters are not too nice when it comes to repeat threads on problems) and it generally has very good documentation/wiki

Hmm, I think the problem is that it's personal preference-for everyone who says that Arch is great somebody will say it's crap, and the same with Gentoo...
