For those who never heard of the app. It’s an app for a few quid, take home a bag - TGTG call it a magic bag with food with mainly that day’s date on it or damaged.

It’s a good way to get food cheap. Though not advisable for fussy eaters or with dietary issues as each day, contents vary.

My favourite magic bag has to be the sushi place inside Asda. Amazing food.

Worst one was a Morrisons near a friend’s. Mouldy satsumas, bendy carrots,

Mrs tried it a while ago (or something very similar) with the local Toby carvery, they cancelled her order in the end and she's not bothered trying again.
 
I remember trying it during its early days but there wasn't many restaurants signed up, and a lot of the food they were selling off cheap was getting sold very quickly.
 
Quite a few times but not for a while. Few local shops did some good stuff and local sushi place had some excellent stuff a number of times but it's hard to get unless you know the times the places release stuff. Had Costa a few times and it's been rubbish.

This tbh, when I've looked at the app it doesn't seem that good value when you have to jump in the car and spend a couple of quid on petrol and parking to nip into town to pick up a Greggs bag that's been reduced by 2 quid and you have to eat it all that evening.
Next doors mum works in a Coop and she brings loads of stuff for us that's been on the reduced shelf, had everything from frozen meals to beef joints for a pittance compare to full price.

My Mam does similar, she works at the Hospital and toward the end of the day the M&S inside the hospital drop everything down to pretty much pennies for some decent food so she stocks up with stuff to bring home.
 
Use it quite a bit as we're poor as balls :cry:

As others have said if you have to make a semi substantial journey in a car then it probably isn't worth, especially seeing as some places barely offer a saving with what they give you, but I commute on public transport back through Birmingham City Centre almost every evening quite late so get all the choicest offerings. There's a Costa I always go to and their offerings are incredible. Basically get my lunch for the next 4 days for £3.50. Tim Hortons has gotten quite good too. The little independents are the best ones to keep an eye open for. There's a bread shop that keeps us supplied for a god 7 days with artisan loaves, often for as little as £3 for a massive bag. Gotten to know the owner now and she always slips a few extra rolls, cakes or loaves into the bag for me.

Dunno what kind of sticks you have, but round our way there are several farm shops. These are normally hideously overpriced, but a Magic Bag can get you some great stuff for the money.
One downside of the app is that people sit on it, refreshing constantly, so stuff goes very quick.

They have nothing on old ladies when the doors open on a church jumble sale....
 
Oooh, i never considered the farm shops.

Might download it if it's starting to be used more.


EDIT - The problem here, is that just looking to download the app and there's already 4 different apps that seemingly do the same thing. This is one of those situations where it's just better all round for the others to die and one to win out and cover all restaurants/shops/areas rather than having to be a member of multiple.
