Me and a mate just looking at BB guns and come across this website. Were students, so looking at the cheap guns really, but specifically the electric pistols Tokyo Marui M92F etc.

A few questions:

How do these guns differ from the manual ones, do you not have to pull them back for each shot? How long do the 4x AAA batteries last?

Whats a safe distance to fire these weapons at your opponents from?

Is it bad to use these guns outside.. will we have the armed police turn up if we start war'ing outside generally?

Do we need anything else to maintain our weapons, were getting some goggles from the site, we like the look of the G&P OEF USMC Goggles for eye protection.. we figured normal sunglasses wont cut it..

This website says they do not stock these guns but order them taking up to 3 weeks, anyone have any personal experience with this website? http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/erol/erol.html

Any questions for me, fire straight back [pun intended].

I'd steer clear of the electric pistols if I were you, go for a GBB instead; they're generally more powerful than electrics, and sound cool :) They're also semi-automatic, so you only have to **** the gun when you reload it.

You can use them on your own property IF you make sure you don't fire into anyone else's property if I recall correctly. As for shooting opponents, make sure you have full eye protection and are fully clothed; a 300FPS shot to bare skin at close range will hurt.

For maintenance, you'll just need some gun oil I think, nothing else you need for that. Abbey Silicon Gun Oil 35 should do the trick. As for gas, if you get a GBB, then you can either get 134, which is slightly less powerful, or green gas, which is higher pressure.

The £35 Electric blowback guns are VERY weak at only 95fps, you would be better off with a springer. For comparison my springer is around 230-250fps and accurate up to about 40 foot. (Travels further but you lose accuracy)

I have a KWC smith and Wesson M4505 that was £30 and it is an excellent gun although as said you would be much better off with a Gas gun. The KJW MK1 Ruger is a rather powerful non blow back available for £40 and the KJW Glock G23 with a metal Slide is available for £60. While not quite as powerful it is much more realistic.

Edit: http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/erol/erol.html Something like this would be better, twice as powerful and made by a decent brand.

As a rough guide, you should expect to be paying around £90-£120 for a decent quality GBB. As for power, most guns are about 250 FPS (feet per second), with the more powerful ones being 300+. 328 is the limit for most British airsoft sites.

Hmm, doesnt sound like these GBBs are within our budget of pretty damn cheap, cheers for the advice anyway. If anyone could answer those questions i put up it would be much appreciated.

They are semi automatic like a real gun, pull the trigger and fire.

They are really weak, so I doubt they would hurt from point blank and they would not be very accurate past 7-8 metres.

As long as it is private land you should be alright, but wear eye/face protection.

Full face protectors are ebtter than just goggles.

Never ordered from 'em but I'm sure someone on here has.

It doesnt have to be a Gas Blow Back, non blowback would work just as well and ZeroOneAirsoft has some for £40! Like I said the KJW MK1 Ruger is about the most powerful cheap NBB but they are hard to get hold of.

Cheapest Blowback I have seen is an ABS (strong plastic) USP for £50, although the Glock G23 for £65 on ZeroOne is a better gun due to being part metal.

Not a clue, probably not very long and you'll end up spending more on batteries when you could have bought a gbb/nbb and saved more in the long run.

Point blank with those things. They barely pierce paper. Make sure you wear eye protection even so.

Never EVER use them on land you don't have permission to shoot on. Its classed as armed trespass (even though they're only toys) and you can receive a hefty fine and/or prison sentence. Even if you're only messing about in your back garden its always a good idea to make sure any neighbours who can see into it know what you're up to. Also make sure, if you're transporting them about in public, keep them out of sight. And by that I don't mean down the front of your trousers, make sure you've got a bag you can put them in. If someone sees you walking around with it and they call the police you'll have an ARU on you very quickly, and they'll treat it as a real weapon.

Ordered plenty of stuff from zero one before and never had a single problem.

As my brother found out the hard way... Police helicopter hovering over the house and about 4 cars turned up :/

Wow at some of the guns on there!

Would i need some kind of liscence to own any of the bolt action sniper rifle's to use in a back garden?

Or the M1 Garand :>

I can throw faster than an EBB can fire.

Don't take them outside, you'll get shot and will give Airsoft a bad name.

Then i am very tempted to buy the " Tokyo Marui VSR-10 G-Spec"

Silent or near enough apparantly, so no way to annoy the neighbors at all :D

Is it just for your back garden or would you take it to skirmishes too?

Back garden only i guess, something very cool to own in my opinion, i have a couple of low-power spring BB guns as it is right now which i always have fun using, always wanted to own a rifle but didnt know if it was legal or not

Have a lot of room to set up targets and such

Backed out at the last second, was going to just be an impulse buy

With the rifle, scope targets, bb's, was coming to around 270quid or so

Still tempted, i'd love a bolt action rifle :D

More than anything if it could be a Mauser Kar98k replica, but i cant find them anywhere :p

Gord, get some eye protection from an on line safety product store, the kind that sell eye protection for joiners etc, don't get some from an airsoft store, they charge a lot more. You can get some class 1 polycarbonate safety specs for £2.80 from one of these stores and they look cool as well, also dark lensed ones can be purchased that look just like shades  .

As for pistols seriously get a gas blow back, you wont regret it when you fire a few shots off for the first time. If you really don't want to spend a bit more on a blow back then a non blow back gas gun is the next best thing but not as fun.
