I wanted to try out the UV LEDs and see how well can they illuminate the PC case so I got one today but it is just too bright. It illuminates everything very well but also it gives off too much of the purple light. I tried various resistors to dimm it down but it virtually stops working even with the smallest value resistor, very strange  Are there any ways of reducing the purple glow? Is anyone using such LEDs?

These LEDs look very promising for lighting up the PC case. Just 2 small LEDs can do a much better job than even 3 cold cathode lights.

no you cant im affraid. Different LEDs emit different ''set'' frequencies. and im sure there is already a protective resister in there. maybe changing that to a lower one might do something but i wouldnt try.

LED's are strange things!

before you go and do somethin daft (not sayin ** daft, but ya know what some ppl can be like) try whacking it in a corner and putting a filter in front of it.

Should obviously tone it down abit!

what type of resistors are you trying?
