Curious how this will fare on an EVGA 980 SC. Has anyone else done it? Does it pose issues with the VRM RAM heatsink cooling?

Why would you want to do that?

What's wrong with the cooler fitted? It's less of a jet engine compared to the AMD reference coolers!

Apparently EVGA are going to make the AIO cooler unit used on their GTX980 hybrid a purchasable standalone upgrade like the Hydrocopper water block.

Ah really, now that's interesting. Is this official or rumour?

Edit: I see it here actually... wonder when this will be available in UK.

I've got all the parts left over from when I did my 970's and bought a few extras like heatsinks for the VRM and new pads just been seeing how my 980's do in SLI. The top one did hit 78c when I was playing Grid Autosport last night so I am still contemplating doing the top one but I think its a bit pointless if you only have one 980 unless you just want to do it for the heck of it.

As for quiet they can be as quiet as you can make them. Hook the fans upto a fan controller or control them off motherboard headers and alter the speed and you can see anything between 10c to 20c knocked off the temperatures and at the same time happy in the knowledge that the fan speed wont increase.
