As some of you know I have the Optoma Themescene HD72i Projector and the Xbox 360 is connected to it.

At the present time I am using the Offical HD component AV cable. This cable is connected to my Yamaha surround amp and I have the amp connected to my PJ via a 10m in length component cable. Its only a cheap one from a hradware shop in Derby.

I am wanting to try the Offical VGA AV lead but obviously I would require an extension cable. Does anyone here use a longer VGA cable extension if so, what brand of cable is it and is it anygood. Cost is no problem.

im using a 5meter nikia vga cable on my pj. i was using a 15meter generic grey cable from egay. theres a bit of difference between the 2 but i guess thats just down to the length more than anything

How long is the ext VGA cable? I will be needing one roughly 6m in length.

The only reason Im going for VGA is the protection on HD material.. I would be using the new 360 HD DVD player but im not sure if this applies to it or not.

I did notice an ammount of difference in the Offical component connected directly into the 360 and the now used setup of it being connected to the amp and the the cheap 10m to the PJ.. The direct route was loads better.. I know that distance does have a detrimental effect of PQ

There no protection on component...

The Protection can only be put on a HDMI or DVI output/input..

Yes I just found that out.. I was being dumb.. But still. Vga is slightly sharper and would more than likely give me a better picture on the PJ. Only thing is my PJ doesnt support 1080p. It can go upto that res but the image is way way off screen for some reason..

Oooh I dont know. All this is confusing nowadays..

I used a Belkin Gold series 5m VGA cable on my PJ, no problems, you can use the joiner that came with the MS official cable so you can just get the regular male - male Belkin.
