Anyone using an Apple keyboard

My keyboard is on its last legs, and the new aluminium Apple board (wired) looks like the best replacement for the money; ideally I'm after the Enermax Aurora, but nobody seems to sell them for reasonable prices any more.

I was just wondering if anyone is using one of the Apple boards with any Ubuntu derivative? I assume that re-mapping any keys shouldn't be too much of an issue?

Yes, I use (or did use) one of the new aluminium keyboards with my Ubuntu laptop. They're really comfortable to type on. I never bothered to set mine up correctly, so the @ and " keys were in the wrong place, I think, but it still worked fine. If you're using it with a desktop you can select it as an Apple keyboard and it should re-map on its own, I think...

Awesome :)

Will actually be using it with Crunchbang for now, so don't think that I can re-map it automatically, but it shouldn't be too tough to do.

Do you mind me asking your reason for switching away from it?

For what it's worth, the Apple keyboard is available as default as an X layout in all it's variants (If you have a poke in XConfig, IIRC it's available under Macintosh_COUNTRY) :)

Regarding keyboards, has anyone used the new dell space saving keyboards that come with new machines? They look very much like the apple keyboards but are plastic, very comfy and nice to use as well

My company bought me a MacBook Pro. I was using my own Dell XPS 1330 laptop with the company-supplied Mac keyboard after my previous Powerbook blew up. I type for 10+ hours a day and this has really made a big difference to my hands!
